Wedding DJ Melbourne First Dance Song Ideas

(I’ve Had )“Time of my Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer was another great theme song for a movie; if my memory serves me right Dirty Dancing (1987)it is. In fact, I remember singing it in one of the gigs, then for I so loved this song. I heard it in wedding events, too, even as the first dance. Book our wedding DJ Melbourne first dance here

Aside from this song, there are a lot of songs out there that have become popular in the wedding scenes. What is noteworthy is that couples take first dances seriously. During the 2010s and a few years thereafter, some would even have flash mobs that later take on the show after the first dances. But with the growing consciousness of couples to make things a little better for first dances, they usually even hire a good choreographer to make it more appealing to the guests.

Sans the sentimentality. Some even come up with upbeat ones over the traditional slow dances.

Here are some songs that are making waves in the first dances in weddings that need not be performed by professional dancers but by wedding couples who simply want to translate their feelings of love through their dance:

Slow and Graceful…

1. As I Lay Me By Sophie B. Hawkins – at the start of this song, you will literally a piano or a Church Organ playing like somebody is walking down the aisle. Also a good song for first dances as it is reminiscent of childhood dreams of marrying the “one” has been carried through the years and finally making that come true.

2. Love Moves in Mysterious Ways By Julia Fordham -the velvety vocals and the mystical vibe of this song is pure love – proving love is not really that elusive but in unconventional ways reaches its way to the heart.

3. More Than You’ll Ever Know By Michael Ruff -upfront and direct, a declaration of love rolled into a song.

4. I Do Cherish You By 98 Degrees – gone are the days of boy bands, but this song outlives time and still mesmerizes to this day.

5. Love thy Will Be Done By Martika – The Artist called Prince may have passed on, but his collaboration with Martika glimmers eternal. This is an anthem that contemplates open arms and unfazed surrender to love.

Modern and Worthy of Dancing to…

1. Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding – folktronica, indie pop, electro pop or synth-pop no matter how one would label Ellie Goulding’s genre, this one song is a wedding favourite. Romantic and sexy but could be easily choreographed.

2. Capital Letters By Hailee Steinfield -bubbly, fun and young these words describe this song.

3. Will You Marry Me By Jason Derulo – precisely, to marry a beloved is the next best thing to heaven as Jason Derulo relays.

4. In the Name of Love By Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha – when the couple just wants to dance, but of course, it is the first dance.

5. You Shook Me All Night Long By AC/DC -want an out of the box number? This one is for the good times.

Whatever the song choice for the first dance, the best one would always be the song that reflects the wedding couple’s personality. Need not something complicated but one that celebrates the couple’s love, not one that requires complex dance moves of dance sport but one that recognizes the movements of true love.
